Salmon is the base of our sled dogs' winter diet. Every fall we will prepare between 600 and 800 salmon for winter feeding by hanging the fish on a fish rack. Caught in a fish wheel on the Tanana River, the salmon provides a very palatable protein source. Purchased from a local subsistence fisherman, each salmon costs $1. During peak training one fish will feed two to three sled dogs for one day. We appreciate any donation amount to help fill the fish rack for the winter season!
